The Kinetic Road Machine does what you need it to do. If you are looking for a budget-friendly option to keep you riding through the winter – this is it! We bought these trainers for our children to ride with us in the off-season. They do not need all the functions of a more expensive model and we could not afford to purchase 3 more direct drive trainers. This option has allowed all of us to ride together and enjoy our training time.
PROS
- Affordable: The Kinetic Road Machine is a very cost-effective and basic way for you to get training with a base-level feature.
- Bluetooth: You can connect to your favorite training apps and start ridding.
- Set-up: the physical setup of the Kinetic Road Machine Smart 2 Bike Trainer was extremely easy. There are detailed instructions and videos on the company’s site. We have paired this trainer easily with a PC laptop, iPad, iPhone 6+ to 12 with no issues.
CONS
- Noise: this is a wheel on trainer and can be noisy. The best way to make this a quieter ride is to install a slick training tire on your bike of choice. It will not be as quiet as a direct drive setup but will greatly reduce the noise versus training with a knobby tire.
- Options: you will be able to set up and train on your app of choice, but this trainer will only give you the most basic function.

While I cannot comment on the long-term durability of the Kinetic Road Machine Smart 2 Bike Trainer, this trainer looks very sturdy. We Have not Experienced or felt any instability while riding.

6. Setup :
When connected to your favorite app the Kicker Smart Trainer resistance is controlled by your training program. You can also control the resistance level on your smart devices. The manual says it can adjust up to a 20% climb!
7. Axle compatibility :
All the bikes we placed on these trainers are quick-release Kinetic also offers thru-axle adapters.
