Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

New to cast iron? No problem – this is a seriously fun & tasty way to start seasoning your new skillet!

This cookie comes out with a nice texture ready to slice & eat or serve with ice cream.

Ingredients:

Dry

2 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 large egg yolks
3tsp vanilla extract

The Chips

10oz bag of chocolate chips will work
Our favorite method is:
5oz (approx) dark chocolate chunks
5oz (approx) white chips

Cooking Instructions:

PREPARE THE OVEN :

Preheat to 350 F

MIX DRY INGREDIENTS :

in a bowl, whisk: flour, baking powder, soda & salt

PREPARE EGGS :

in a bowl, whisk: 1 egg + 2 yolks

HEAT THE SKILLET :

with the burner on low heat, let the skillet warm up for a few minutes

ADD WET INGREDIENTS TO THE SKILLET :

keep the burner on low as you add the butter, let it melt completely
add both sugars and mix till well incorporated
remove the skillet from the heat

WITH THE BURNER OFF :

add whisked eggs to the skillet (stir quickly so eggs aren’t cooking)
measure the vanilla into the sugar/egg/butter skillet and stir liberally
add dry ingredients and mix until just combined
remove extra flour and clean around the skillet for oven ready baking
fold in chips!

BAKE :

Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Let it go 5 minutes longer if center is not set
Remove from the oven & let cool

SERVE WARM :

The cookie is more than enough but topped with Ice Cream it is super delicious!
